This year, as Cincinnati Public Schools opens its nominations for its Athletics Hall of Fame, the District will also remember the CPS legend who created it.
Former Board Member Chris Nelms led the establishment of the CPS Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009.
“Mr. Nelms recognized the need to perpetuate the memory of the exceptional people who brought honor to their schools, and who continue to serve as role models for present and future generations,” said Josh Hardin, Athletics Manager for Cincinnati Public Schools. “The CPS District has a rich heritage and tradition of outstanding athletic programs, teams, coaches and athletes who have made great contributions towards immense athletic accomplishments.”
The Athletics Hall of Fame banquet is scheduled for April 19, 2018 at Paul Brown Stadium, more details will follow after the Class of 2018 members are selected. The Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet will include a ceremony and recognition of the great impact Nelms made on the District. Nelms was serving on the Cincinnati Public Schools Board of Education when he passed away in September 2017.
Nominations for the Hall of Fame will be accepted online through the link below. Nomination deadline to be eligible for the Class of 2018 is December 31, 2017. All nominations of members not selected will carry over to future years.
