Riverview East Athletic Department Mission
"Riverview East Athletics is committed to providing athletic programs that develop sportsmanship, leadership, and a team-first mentality among our student-athletes. We consider athletics to be an extension of the classroom, where learning and developing positive character traits is the ultimate 'win'."
Welcome to the 2020–2021 school year! While the conditions in our world are "certainly uncertain," something that we can be sure of is that education and education-based athletics are as important as ever. We believe that interscholastic athletics teach many important life lessons, some of which teach us how to get through times like these. Perseverance and a "never give up" attitude are greatly needed and the Riverview East Athletics team plans to emphasize it greatly with our student-athletes this year.
Please be sure to get in contact with your team's head coach or Alex Mallue, Athletic Director, for any information that you may need. Tough times never last, but tough people do. Go Hawks!
Alex Mallue is currently in his third year as Junior High and High School Athletic Director at Riverview East Academy, where he oversees more than 30 coaches and 20 different sports. He previously served as the Assistant Athletic Director at Western Hills University High School in 2017–2018. In his time at Riverview East, Alex has added varsity softball and varsity boys/girls cross country to the school's sport offerings, creating new athletic participation opportunities for many students. In turn, Riverview East has seen a nearly 20 percent increase in total number of student athletes from the 2018–19 to 2019–20 school year. Alex assists in running Cincinnati Public Schools' Student-Athlete Leadership Team Conference on a yearly basis and helps run other various CPS events.
Alex is a member of the Southwest Ohio Athletic Directors Association, Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, and National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. He received his Certified Athletic Administrator certificate from the NIAAA in June 2020. In 2020, Alex was nominated for the Southwest Ohio Horizon Award, given to the top interscholastic Athletic Director with fewer than five years' experience on the job. In his spare time, Alex enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, golfing, hiking, and almost anything else outdoors.
